5 ways to pamper your children – Part 1

Sometimes I have tons of time for my children.  Evenings and weekends are spent getting to know them, understanding them, and having cool experiences with them.

Sometimes the hustle and bustle of everyday life gets away from me and all of a sudden I realize that I haven’t made eye contact with my family for days and everyone’s nerves are frayed.  This is when its time to pull out ideas that make sure my kids know they are not forgotten in the chaos of life.

Way #1:  “Room Service!”

I was organizing the school room.  It was a HUGE job and I didn’t have time for interruptions because the baby was blissfully asleep and if I had stopped for everything the bigger kids wanted me to I would have never gotten any progress done in there at all.

Cyan came in and said “Mom, I am a ballerina. And this is my hotel room.” and she points to her room down the hall.  Now that could have been the end of it… but I knew that because I had hardly seen her all morning she was asking for a bit of attention. She wanted me to engage.  I only had a minute… I had to think fast.  I snuck into her room the next time she was in the bathroom and put our tiny DVD player on her bed with a library movie. The squeals of glee brought Logan into her room and they sat and watched their movie happily until lunch time.  By this time I had made some real progress in the school room and I was feeling rather proud and inventive.

They got their lunch of chicken salad on a tray complete with dinner mint and little bottles of lemon water. I knocked on her door and yelled “room service!”.

I had happy kids the whole entire time I ignored them to get my task done. That was WELL worth the extra few minutes this took to pull off.

What kind of pampering is going on in your house this week?
